To all Vincentian Brothers and Sisters:

The 6th annual Free Income Tax Return clinics sponsored by the St. John de Brebeuf Conference of Kingsville Ontario is in need of volunteers to help with the filing of 2017 tax returns for the poor who access our foodbank and the Kingsville Foodbank.

You may be aware of the benefits of filing early and online for people whose income is less than $30,000. Last year we helped 137 individuals or families save 60-80 dollars by coming to our clinics, ensuring that their Trillium benefits continued every month and their GST rebate cheques arrived every quarter.

We are holding 8 clinics this year at the Employment Assessment Centre on Pearl St. E. beginning Saturday March 10. It is a drop-in style clinic with room for 6 stations networked to a printer so that people do not have to return for their results.

We began with 2 computers in 2013 and filed 80 returns online and in 2017 prepared 137 returns. This year we hope to reach out to Harrow where there is also no free community tax return clinics. We continue to empower those with access to a computer by showing them how easy it is to file online.

For our particular drop-in clinics, we need people who are at ease with the computer and can bring their own laptops. We also need receptionists who will screen/interview attendees for proper identification and pertinent documents. Short training sessions are provided at the venue.

This an excellent opportunity to learn how to run such a clinic should your conference wish to add this help to low income individuals in your community.
