Socks for the HomelessOur SSVP Youth Conference, St. Louise de Marillac along with our partners from Holy Family Parish and St. John French Immersion Elementary School has collected a record high number of socks for those on the street and less fortunate.
On February 10-11, 2018 Holy Family Parish collected socks at each of the Masses. There were over 300 men's, 80 women's and around 40 youth socks. Our team was humbled and moved by the generosity of the parishioners ever year! We are blessed to have such wonderful support in this project annually. This year we had a surprise partnership with St. John French Immersion Elementary School, a NEW school in our boundaries of Holy Family Parish. The Kindergarten classes with the encouragement of one of our Youth Members Emma Moynihan, collected youth socks to celebrate the 100th day of school. So Emma put out the challenge to increase the numbers so the school could donate socks to youth in need in our community. St. John's collected for the youth in need over 280 additional pairs of socks, such a wonderful and heart felt gesture of love and generosity! Our Team then on February 14th Valentine's Day distributed the socks to many organizations around the city of London: St. Joseph's Hospitality Centre, SSVP Store on York Street, Men's Mission, Salvation Army Centre of Hope, Women's Community House, Wilfred Jury Elementary School and the Boy and Girls Club of London. Each one of these sites were thrilled to receive the winter socks and felt the LOVE and knew that others do care about them. It was certainly a joy to be able to see their reaction upon receiving the socks, personally. Huge thanks goes to the Parishioners of Holy Family Parish and St. John French Immersion Elementary School students and teachers for donations and collections of new winter and youth socks! Without our partners, our SSVP Youth team could not have done this beautiful generous project for those marginalized. God bless those involved, may you always hear the voice of God guiding you to greatness in His name. ArticlesSocks for the Homeless
