We can provide advice and tools to help you grow. Below is all the resource you need under one roof. We have tried to make this process as simple as possible but please know that we’re here to help you along the way.

Would you like to rejuvenate SSVP in our area?
We are looking for volunteers to join a cross-conference team to grow our Society.
The work will be very rewarding as we expand the number of people we can help.
Please join us!
Next start monthly meetings with your group. The first step is to understand the parishes within your Council boundaries.
Ideally create a list (or a map if possible) showing all parishes you have and the ones that you don’t have.
Then reach out to the parishes that don’t have an SSVP Conference and ask the Priest if he’d be willing to talk to you.
We do have a sample email you can send to each Priest along with attachments that include a letter of reference from a Bishop and a Priest.
Follow-up the letter with a phone call and ask to meet with the Priest.

My name is xxx and I am the chair of the Rejuvenation committee for the xxx Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP).
We are trying to grow our SSVP in xxx in an effort to help even more people in need in our community and to allow our fellow Catholics a chance to put their Faith into Action.
I am writing to ask if it might be possible to meet with you in person to discuss the possibility of starting a Saint Vincent de Paul Conference at your parish?
We totally appreciate how busy our Priest’s are and we make sure to keep any time commitment from you to an absolute minimum.

Once you have the ok from the Priest then hold a rejuvenation event at mass.
We normally recommend having a speaker and 3 or 4 volunteers at the back of the church to collect names, emails and phone numbers.
A sample recruitment speech is available below.
You can use or feel free to make up your own.
Once you have a group of interested people, hold an Orientation session.
Invite all your conferences to send people if they wish to this session.
Sample material for an orientation session is given below.
Next determine a “buddy conference” to assist the new group. This conference should walk side by side with the new group to get them up and running.
A sample of a buddy conference guideline is available below.
Hold the first meeting of the new conference and introduce them to their buddy conference who will help them every step of the way moving forward.
It should be that easy, then move on to the next possible new conference on your list and go through the process again.

The SSVP mission is to “to live the Gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice and joy.”
PUTTING FAITH INTO ACTION, I believe that this is the phrase that inspired me to join SSVP. There are so many people in need in XXX and in this world, I asked myself was I “doing” anything to help them. The answer for me sadly was no not really. So, joining SSVP was my chance to try and put that right.
I then asked myself some more questions; do I have time to do this, what skills can I bring and I’m only one person how much can I get done. You may be asking yourself similar questions. Well, here are the answers I found …as for time, you only need to spend a few hours a month doing this, you can of course do more, but every little bit helps. As for skills, well that’s one of the things I love about SSVP we are a very diverse bunch of people, old and young, and everything in between, male, and female, all with different skills and everyone contributing in their own way. So, then what about the question “what can I as 1 person achieve”? Well, when you consider….
These days, the SSVP is present in 152 countries, has 800,000 members in 48,000 Conferences. Every day, it helps over 30 million people the world over.
Now that is making a difference. If we all do our small part that really adds up to a lot.
So come and learn more. If you feel the call to help people in need, give us your number after mass and we’ll invite you to an information session. Thank you for listening and thank you Father for your support we are very grateful.

The role of the buddy conference is to assist the new conference any way it can. Invite them to your meetings, allow them to talk to your key members like President, Treasurer etc. Coach them in the ways of SSVP and do everything to help them get up and running

You should also encourage your small conferences to grow.
Ask them to hold a rejuvenation weekend, very similar to starting a new conference above.
