Welcoming Newcomers

As Vincentians we are reminded in the Rule (1.2) that immigrants and refugees are among those whom we are called to serve. Please see our new pamphlet "Newcomers, You Are Welcome…Aren’t you?" and distribute it in your parish. Please contact us at voice.of.the.poor@ssvp.on.ca if you require additional copies.

Also, in an effort to help dispel myths and misunderstandings surrounding the differences between newcomers that arrive as either immigrants or refugees, we have posted a resource document "Talking About Refugees and Immigrants: A Glossary of Terms".

We have a responsibility to learn about the people we serve in order to advocate for them and to stand up on their behalf.
