Special Works
Special works are operated by Central or Particular Councils to help our friends in need.
Our society is committed to helping the poor and those in need in any way we can. This help may therefore take many forms, from helping individuals and families in our own neighbourhood to providing shelter to, and feeding and clothing the homeless in urban centres, to assisting those who need our help in neglected regions around the world.
These activities include:
- Twinning: sharing resources to help other Conferences and Councils both
in Canada and around the world.
- Emergency Relief: Funds forwarded to Conferences in disaster zones
to assist members in recovery efforts.
- Community homes
- Affordable housing
- Prison ministry
- Soup kitchens
- Hospital visitations
- Food banks
- Summer camps
- Refugee or immigrant welcoming
- Visiting the elderly or shut-ins
- Help with school work
- Outreach programs
- Community stores
- Programs for the mentally challenged
