WE ARE BUSIER THAN THE BEES!

May 2026

Sisters and brothers, North of 60 is a buzz. We have 6 conferences/councils working hard to gather essential food and home items their community is hoping to receive. We are collaborating with parish members, friends and neighbourhood organizations to ensure we have amassed, as much as possible, all the essential items that our Inuit families need to support their families.

Six communities in Nunavut will receive 20-foot sea containers filled with food, household needs, hoodies, and really warm winter clothing including boots.
Each spring, we reach out to our communities to listen and learn how the past winter took hold on the families. Only then we ask if we can help, and then we ask again, how we can help.

We also have 3 communities who will receive food support. These communities are gifted from your generous financial support. It is these funds that allow food to be purchased for our families. We have an established relationship with a warehouse close to the port in Quebec, that has the food, builds the skids and crates, and then moves it to the port fully prepared for shipment to our Nunavut communities. Without your generosity, these families would have no food leaving them desperate to feed their families especially over their harsh winters.

I am asking for your help - PLEASE!

This winter we received ‘news’ from the families in a community called Arvivat. This is a community we helped prior to the pandemic. We stopped our support because the community lost their priest, who is the lifeline to knowing the families and understanding the ongoings in the community. They now have been blessed with a resident priest for over a year. He has asked if we would consider helping the community once more.

Financial support would allow food to be purchased and shipped to Arivat. The utmost help would be the collaboration from conferences and councils to gather food and fill a sea container. I will be beside you all the way to begin either of these processes to support Arivat once again. Please chat with your members to see if there is support you could give.

The North of 60 project can only exist through your funding and our collective hard work.
