A new feature each month will be to share information on one or two social justice issues which you can use for discussion at your next council/conference or social justice meeting. The July 2024 ODSP/OW rates is one that we should all be concerned with and in need of our advocating for increase that can help our neighbours in need. The Dignity of the Human person is another good piece which you may want to share and discuss. Council/conferences presidents: We have encouraged every council/conference to include social justice as a regular agenda item for all meetings. If you currently do so, thanks. If not please consider adding social justice to your next meeting. If you have any members with an interest in social justice, perhaps they could lead a discussion on one of the topics we shall supply each month, or one of their choosing. Advocacy is an action every conference can be involved in at your local community level by talking to local MPPs or city councillors. We have a broad network of conferences across Ontario as well as a strong personal relationship with our neighbours in need. Let’s use these strengths to make a difference both locally and province wide. As a council/conference president you can help by supporting our efforts and sharing social justice news and updates with your members and encouraging their active support. Please help us to help others. Thank you. Jim Paddon, Chair PPDD See further News & EventsNovember Updates
