Hyde Park Lion’s Santa Claus Parade

Our partnership with the Hyde Park Lion’s has been going on for several years now. This event must be our most joy filled activity. To see so many children and parents with anticipation of seeing Santa come up the road!

For many of the parades, we have overseen the pickup dried and canned foods along the roadway. There are so many families that donate to the food pantry at the Northwest Resource Centre located at Sherwood Forest Mall.

What is so great is that along the route, we are in an area that is in need and to witness the families out enjoying the parade is the reward to inspire our return each year. This year was no exception, it was a perfect day to hold such a wonderful event.

We started at 10:00 am and it ran for an hour and a half, an abundance of floats, bands, dancing troops and of course Santa in his sleigh at the rear! Our Team of young people travels down Gainsborough Road from the mall to Hyde Park Road spreading Christmas spirit, joy and laughter.

Our Youth team collected an abundance of food for the local pantry; thanks to the generous people who attended the parade! It brings immense happiness to know that the families in need have a place to go for food when they find themselves short that month.

We are very grateful to the Hyde Park Lion’s for also lending us their trailer to use at our On the Street events and this year they save all our supplies from getting rained on, for this we are indebted to their kindness and generosity.

We foresee a great partnership with this local group in both of our futures. Our next event with this amazing team will be our Earth Day Clean up in May! Can’t wait to get in the ditches and clean up our common home, Mother Earth!
