The Last Post - November 5

Saint Louise de Marillac Youth Conference – *The Last Post - November 5, 2023

Our youth and family have once again cleaned our Veterans “Last Post” gravestones. This year was made very special, our youth painted up some memorial Stone and have a new tradition!

We removed the leaves so we could scrub and removed the grass around each stone so they could be totally visible.

After we finished the headstones, we cleaned off the Cross in the centre of the Last Post Site. This is where we placed the memorial wreath where we added our poppies each year. The wreath is getting fuller with poppies from all of us who clean the area.

This year we placed one of our Memorial Stones we painted up and asked for a prayer for each of the names on the headstones. We would say, “We pray for Lt. Peter Hutchinson” (fabricated name) and we all would reply, “Lord, Hear our pray” This litany sounded off till everyone’s name was spoken. It was absolutely beautiful to hear all the names of our veterans who are laid to rest at the Last Post in Woodlawn Cemetery, London, ON.
