Affordable Housing Project in London

Let's Partner - Building Hope for Housing

The London Particular Council of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is well on their way to building affordable housing for the unhoused.

In response to the chronic and acute affordable housing crisis in London, the SSVP has obtained a parcel of land from the Diocese of London adjacent to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church at 1 Fallons Lane in northeast London. The plan is to build a 73-unit apartment building that will contain one and two bedroom and accessible units. The location is ideaI with easy access to shopping, schools, transit, and a community center.

This project, like most of what Saint Vincent de Paul does, is wholly volunteer run. Our goal is to help the highest needs groups in London, which are senior women and refugees. At least 100 to 120 people will benefit from this affordable housing project. We welcome all people regardless of their religious affiIiation.

Our Architect, Cornerstone Architecture - which has also orchestrated work at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in the past - will be working to build-in innovative ideas to ensure tenants will have safe and affordable accommodations with the lowest possible housing costs.

To make this dream a reality, the Affordable Housing Committee is undertaking a Fundraising Campaign to raise the necessary funds for this project, which will include submitting proposals for government funding, approaching individual donors, and submitting proposals to local Foundations and the local business community.
